What media discovery or invention has made the greatest impact on society today?
How & Why?
From printing machine invented by Johann Gutenberg, to the phone and then the birth of the first computer EINAC after WWII. The types of media are always evolving since the past until now in order to ease mankind to gain information and also communicate. Every kind of media do have impacts on our society.
Internet is the greatest worldwide sosial things that everyone used for their everyday lifes.This invention is indeed lead a dramatic impact on society today
"Its a worldwide ocean of intelligence and connectivity that will most likely be the most important tool for future human progression".
Internet changes the way of society from the aspect of gaining information and communication. People has gradually abandon the old way to gain information which are through newspapers and rely on the Internet.Internet allow us to gain information in the speed of light which is better than newspaper and television and this is why Internet pleased the society.For me, World Wide Web or simply Internet has made the greatest impact today. Tim Berners-Lee has invented the World Wide Web in 1989, about 20 years after the first connection was established. Therefore, the society has the opportunity to immerse themselves in Internet to perform task efficiently by simply a click on the mouse.internet also serves as a database to store massive information from all over the world, for example, Google, the ultimate search engine, has becomes the priority in getting every bit of the first hand news from the world.
Besides,serving as information searching engine,Internet also provide us sosial media to communicate with each others such as Facebook ,Twitter,Instagram ,to enlarge our sosial society more often.Having a sosial media account will alllows us to share the information to everyone across the world.However it can lead to a negative things if we don't use it smartly.
It is developed into a trend that everyone going to share everything without investigating the news.It can cause people think that is true.With that, the effects can be cognitive, attitudinal, behavioral and psychological. For example, the recent incident happened just few months ago where Malaysia Airline MH370 went missing while on the route flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing has stirred up quite a chaos.What happended in sosial media is that some people tend to makes a fakes news about the plane.Sadly,more people actually belived such fake news and tend to share it more widely.
Apart of the negative impact,sosial media also has it own positive impact.Another reason people are spending as much time as they do on social media sites is because they can be a great form of entertainment. Watch videos that people post to their timelines, view pictures, read stories, and even play games. Whether using a smart phone, a tablet, or a traditional computer, more and more people are utilizing social media in their daily lives. Few things have quite as much impact and affect as social media over the past few years. The sites are certainly a step toward world globalization.
