Media imperialism may be a development of an enormous and rich media trade or company management or monopoly over the media industries. Once an owner is truly dominant the media, the media output will be biased. For example, in British country there has BBC (Brodcasting Cooperation) 

The same issue happens in our country, Malaysia.As we know the develpoment of the Malaysian mass media has evolved in the past decade.Our industry is starting on the new era with the technology from the West.However it is also because of this that cultural imperialism is invalid our country,which is through media.Mainly,the influence of the Western Culture is from the advertising industry which bombards the society with so much information.However,the broadcasting media is also one of the main medium that influences the Malaysian society.With the era of globalization now occurring,it is impossible for not only Malaysians but also the world to curb this cultural imperialism by the Westernsners.In addition, with the privatization of the televison brodcasting like Astro,the level of cultural imperialism injected to us is higher.Besides, the economic growth also plays an important role in contributing towards cultural imperialism besides mass media itself.

Curennt trend in Malaysian Brodcasting

We now live in a world with no boundaries.This is due to the technology nowadays that are getting more and more sophisticated.Around 10 years ago, we could never even imagined that things we saw in sci-fi movies would actually be true in real life.Just say for example Apple's most porpular technology nowdays which is the Iphone and iPad.Back then, we only saw touch screen computers on science fiction movies but now , we can see it and also experience it ourselves.Who would have ever thought that something so advanced 10 years back could be a reality now?

Due to the increase usage of technology nowadays , Malaysia also does not want to be left out.Malaysia is going forward in keeping pace with the technology.Even though it might not be as classy as ion the United State or in the West,we are moving to a new era where we can be equally sophissticated like them.One of the good example that can be list is a local company KRU.KRU produced using this technology is the film Cicak Man and also Hikayat Merong Mahangwangsa.Hikayat Merong Mahawangsa is Malaysians first epic film and was the most nominated film in the 24th Malaysian Film Festival.

Besides attitude and behavior , others areas that are influenced by what is portrayed in these stories are the way we dress.This is the most obvius cultural imperialism done by the Westerns.
